When Basil Sakr first stepped on the scene in the movie industry, he was typecast as a bad boy. Having the looks of a bad guy really propelled him to taking bad guy roles. As he recalls his first 5 roles were all bad guy roles. I mean do you blame them? Basil really gives off a Bad Boy Persona times 10, but he’s not mad about it. He says, “It gets me work, so hey, I embrace it”. When we sat down with the star of The Heist to talk with him, he sort of chuckled about it, “yeah, it’s because I have a bald head and a beard. I would walk the other way too if I saw me coming” This just goes to show that he has a funny side to him. Basil says that when he gets a script to portray a bad guy, “I’m not going to lie, I do get excited about the role. I flip to the end to see if I die in this one.” Basil jokingly states that he has died in most the films that he played a bad guy in.
Who is Basil and why is he funny? Basil always grew up as the class clown. He would always sit in front of the class and say funny things out loud when the teacher was teaching. He didn’t do it to interrupt, but to get laughs from the class. He was always witty as far back as he can remember, always trying to bring joy to people through laughter. Becoming an Actor was almost inevitable for him, but becoming a Comedic Actor was even better. He gets to add his own flavor to the role and personify what he enjoys doing, which is making people laugh.
Basil starred in and produced 2 Comedies in 2022, One Two Three Punch and The Heist, both which can be found on streaming services. Both films received countless awards for Best Comedy and Best Film. Basil won the Best Actor award for The Heist at the Milan Gold Awards Film Festival in Milan, Italy in 2022. His knocked his performance out of the park leaving the audience dying laughing from start to finish. He says that he prefers playing comedy roles over other genres because comedy comes natural to him. However he says, “Playing Bad Guy roles are fun too. I get to express a side that is total opposite of who I am in real life.” Since he played a lot of bad guy roles, he also trained in stage combat and fight choreography. He laughed and said, “I do my own stunts.” One of which can be seen with his signature infamous forward-roll in the movie The Heist. Basil says he has 4 more comedies in the works that he’s going to be acting in and producing this year.
