Gorayeb & Associates, a company that supports local sports and community engagement, has announced that it is expanding the annual Copa Gorayeb soccer tournament. The tournament, which started in the Bronx, now includes teams from Queens, Staten Island, Manhattan and Brooklyn, which is a significant increase in its reach and impact on New York City’s soccer community.
Copa Gorayeb started in 2017 and provides local soccer teams with a competitive platform without any cost, which helps to develop athletic talent and community bonds among players and fans. This year, the tournament has 10 teams, representing a diverse range of nations including Mexico, Peru, Guatemala, Colombia, Ecuador, Honduras, El Salvador, and the United States. Each team has 18 players, and they will compete in 11 vs. 11 matches starting May 5th, 2024. The final game will be played on August 8th, 2024.
Gorayeb & Associates is committed to supporting local sports and has generously provided all participating teams with uniforms. Christopher Gorayeb and his company have a broader initiative to encourage the sporting spirit in New York City’s diverse communities. They sponsor soccer and baseball leagues for children and adults, such as Liga Sport HonduBronx and Liga Mexicana de Beisbol in NY, which supports over 3,000 athletes annually across the five boroughs.
Gorayeb & Associates covers all related costs, including uniforms, trophies, and prizes, which allows players to focus on their passion for the game. More importantly, they offer low-income Hispanic families the opportunity to engage in sports without financial burden, creating a safe and enriching environment for children to connect with their community.
Christopher J. Gorayeb expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative, stating, “It is my sincere pleasure to provide support to New York’s Hispanic community by sponsoring community events such as the Gorayeb Cup that provide a safe and fun environment for families to come together.”
