Association des Anciens Camarades pour le Renouveau d’Haïti (ASACRHA) is proud to continue its crucial mission of helping rebuild and revitalize the island nation of Haiti and helping its people grow and thrive.
On 15 December 2021, ASACRHA, in collaboration with “Notre Dame Marie de Petit Paradis,” inaugurated a brand new, state-of-the-art computer lab, including a printer and 23 computers programmed with the latest software. This computer lab will help facilitate and expand learning and access to academic resources–many of which have become inaccessible to Haitian children. In addition, this computer lab will serve 375 Notre Dame Marie students and staff as well as students from other areas within surrounding communities–impacting over 500 local students and educators in Grand Goave each year.
Over the past year, Haiti has suffered immense devastation. In August 2021, the island nation was ravaged by two natural disasters within just three days. First, 2,248 people died, and nearly 13,000 were injured when a 7.2 magnitude earthquake rocked Haiti on 14 August 2021, with 329 remaining missing as of early 2022. Then, on 16 August 2021, Tropical Storm Grace hit the island, further devastating towns, and infrastructure, including schools and educational centers.
ASACRHA remains committed to restoring the quality of life for all Haitians through a dedication to helping Haitian students, orphans, the sick, and the less fortunate. By creating projects, scholarship programs for higher education, and providing grants for other projects, we can help solidify Haitian youth–better positioning them to excel into the future and enhancing our redevelopment efforts in Haiti. Moreover, we believe restoring access to education is a vital step in the overall restoration process and seek to provide young people with the positive skills and encouragement necessary to act as agents of change within their communities.
We are able to continue our work toward fulfilling this mission thanks to the boundless support of ASACRHA members, friends, and family. Thanks to this continued support, we exceeded our expectations and provided more computers than anticipated.
