Thank you for taking the time to chat with us. We are excited to have Brian Tell & The LoveMakers. You all have some really exciting new music coming out. What can listeners expect from these new releases?
Thanks for having us! We are very excited to get this music out in the world. It’s been a pandemic project, here in Austin with Don Rahl, who produced the whole project. It’s music that was created when we first moved to Austin, so it’s a bit softer I would say. The writing is a bit more relaxed and maybe less Rock ‘n’ Roll. The cool thing was that we teamed up with Chris Callaway, a great photographer from New York City, to make the album art. It just fit perfectly with the vibe of this set of tracks.
When you all set out to make new music what is that creative process like?
There is no set process, but usually, it starts with the melody. The words sometimes take months to come together, but the melody usually sticks right away. I would say most of the songs are written in one sitting, but the lyrics will come later. Don was a genius on these tracks, because he has the ability to enhance the whole vibe of the song, adding in different background effects. We really just take them as they come.
You just moved to Austin, TX, how would you say that has inspired your music?
Moving to Austin is the best case scenario for a songwriter or a band. Music is everywhere and it’s a much different scene than in NYC. We feel much more comfortable here and the musicians are definitely more open to collaborate. I would say it impacted the music in a more peaceful, steady way. Leaving NYC and traveling for a bit due to the pandemic was chaotic as well. I think it’s safe to say we all feel more at home here.
What artist are you all most into right now? Who is inspiring you?
Since moving to Austin, I’ve tapped into more country roots. I mean you have to revisit Willie Nelson. But it’s been really cool to discover new artists like Matthew Logan Vasquez and David Ramirez. I wasn’t aware of them before I got to Austin and they are truly the kings of music here.
Any plans to tour in 2022?
We are looking to get into the studio this summer and bring back some more Rock ‘n’ Roll tracks. No plans to tour just yet, I think we are more focused on playing the Austin scene.
Where can we find the new music and see what is next for you?
We are streaming across all major platforms, and will be rolling out the tracks in two phases. Two tracks will be launching on Friday 6/10, and then two tracks will follow on Friday 6/17. The band will be playing a release party on Friday 6/17 at The Chess Club on Red River to celebrate and we’ll see what happens next!
