D.R. Horton’s Southwest Florida division has announced the launch of Driftwood Bay, a new residential community in Port Charlotte designed to provide attainable homeownership in one of Florida’s fastest-growing coastal regions.
The new neighborhood will feature single-family homes designed for modern buyers, with open-concept floor plans, energy-efficient construction, and upgraded finishes. Homes will range from just over 1,300 square feet to more than 1,600 square feet, offering flexible living spaces for families, individuals, and seasonal residents.
Homes in the Driftwood Bay community are expected to include spacious kitchens with stainless steel appliances, smart-home technology packages, and contemporary design features to meet today’s buyers’ needs.
The development is located in Port Charlotte, Charlotte County, providing convenient access to local amenities, including shopping, restaurants, golf courses, boating destinations, and Gulf Coast beaches. Major roadways nearby include Veterans Boulevard, U.S. 41 (Tamiami Trail), Kings Highway, and Interstate 75, making commuting to nearby cities and employment centers easier for residents.
Dwayne Hill, division president for D.R. Horton’s Southwest Florida division, said the project aims to deliver value and lifestyle benefits for buyers entering the region’s competitive housing market.
“As demand continues to grow in Southwest Florida, Driftwood Bay delivers the quality, value, and lifestyle buyers expect from D.R. Horton,” Hill said.
Homes in the new community are currently priced in the mid-$200,000 range, positioning the development as an option for first-time buyers, families looking to upgrade, and people relocating to Florida.
D.R. Horton, known as “America’s Builder,” has built more than 1.2 million homes and has been the largest homebuilder in the United States by volume since 2002.
With continued population growth across Southwest Florida, developments such as Driftwood Bay are expected to play an important role in expanding housing supply while offering new construction options in coastal communities.
