In the male-dominated world of music production, Vale Peñaranda stands out as a trailblazer, breaking barriers and making waves as one of the few Bolivian female producers in her country and the first one to graduate from Berklee College of Music and Frost School of Music. Her journey is a testament to her passion, talent, and determination to succeed in an industry where women are often underrepresented.
From a young age, Vale knew that music was her calling. Growing up in Bolivia, she studied classical piano and contemporary vocal performance at the National Conservatory. Her passion and curiosity for music opened up new doors, leading her to pursue her education abroad. In 2015, she was fortunate to receive a scholarship to study at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, where she further honed her skills and knowledge in music production.
After completing her undergraduate studies at Berklee, Vale was awarded a full scholarship to pursue her master’s degree in production at the Frost School of Music, University of Miami, starting in 2021.
At Frost School of Music, Vale had the opportunity to study with some of the most influential figures in the industry. She credits Carlos Rafael Rivera, a Grammy and Emmy-winning composer, as one of her most influential mentors. Under his guidance, she learned the art of composition for film, gaining invaluable insights into the creative process.
In recent years, Vale has seized internships with renowned figures in the industry, including Grammy award-winning producer Carlitos López, known for his work with music icons like Bad Bunny, Jennifer Lopez, Ricky Martin, and Alejandro Sanz. Additionally, she had the privilege of working under the supervision of Grammy award-winning producer and engineer Charles Dye, gaining invaluable insights into sound engineering and expanding her technical skills. These experiences provided her with hands-on experience and enriched her artistic vision.
Vale has also begun producing for emerging artists such as Puerto Rican Grecia Dianel, as well as American indie artists like Nyla Smith and Alex Carrington. Simultaneously, she is releasing her own music, where she serves as singer, songwriter, arranger, and producer. Her work exemplifies her dedication to pushing creative boundaries.
Through her determination, Vale continues to inspire a new generation of Bolivian female producers, proving that gender is no barrier to success in the world of music production.
