Can you talk to us about the power behind networking from your perspective?
It’s about being genuine. It’s about being a clear communicator. Help others achieve their goals and return the favor.
When you were creating your book, The Network Effect: Stories from The Inside Circle, did you learn anything new that surprised you?
I did! Several of those I interviewed have social anxiety. I never knew that, as each was quite adept at hiding it. I’m now aware it’s a significant challenge/issue and one I can help to support.
Describe the human element as it pertains to global networking in the world today.
Geography is often irrelevant. We are all relationship based. Friendships are what lead to relationships. Relationships are what lead to business.
How do you see global networking evolving in the future?
Borders are gone. Technology is moving so fast. I think that Google Translator/etc. will allow many from different languages to communicate and have a meaningful impact.
In your opinion, what are the key components to maintaining a healthy work/life balance?
Exercise. Managing/eliminating stress. Healthy decisions. Friendships. Downtime.
When you’re not connecting the world together by networking, what are your favorite hobbies or pastimes?
I’m a pickleball fanatic, having moved over from tennis (I played for 20 years). I love to listen to music, volunteer (I was a coach for many years), and watch silly shows.
