In a world ridden with healthcare disparities, health professionals like Jennifer Lacarriere who are going beyond their professional obligations to share timely knowledge and insights with others, are invaluable. Dedicated to bridging the gap and improving access to quality medical care for all, Jennifer Lacarriere has launched her health website to serve as a resource to those who want to learn more especially about nursing.
With over a decade of experience in nursing between the cardiac unit and maternity ward, Jennifer’s journey is one of resilience and compassion. Her commitment to better healthcare for all also extends far beyond hospital walls.
“I would like to leave behind a better world through my generosity, kindness, perseverance and innovative ideas,” says Lacarriere.
Graduating from New York University with a degree in medicine, Jennifer started her career with dedication and the intention to grow. According to statistics from the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), only 41.7% of medical school applicants were accepted in the United States in 2022, and Lacarriere would work tirelessly to defy those odds.
Jennifer Lacarriere’s admission into NYU’s prestigious medical program is one example of her academic excellence and determination to pursue her passion not just for a successful career, but for healthcare itself.
“I have a lot of compassion, and I was certain this was something I was destined to do,” says Lacarriere.
Over the years, Jennifer Lacarriere has put her learnings to the test in various healthcare settings. While working in cardiac units and maternity wards, she was able to further build upon her work ethic and resilience.
A whopping 48 percent of the global disease burden can be attributed to non-communicable diseases like cardiovascular ailments, which occur over our lives. Apart from spending over a decade in health services and working in the cardiac unit, Lacarriere has been a frontline advocate in combating this growing health crisis.
In addition to this, her work in maternity wards aligns with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, which aims to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages. It’s not just healthcare systems, but the workers they’re comprised of that make all the difference.
With approximately 295,000 maternal deaths recorded worldwide each year, Jennifer’s contributions to maternal healthcare as well as the knowledge she shares play a crucial role in providing the information and advocacy necessary to potentially reduce maternal mortality rates, ensuring safer childbirth experiences (UN Women).
“It’s my dream to establish a private teaching hospital with a bridge program for undergraduate students to volunteer in third world countries,” says Lacarriere.
In a recent interview, Jennifer Lacarriere also expanded on her core commitments, mentioning that her dedication is to social responsibility. These values have been reflected in her efforts and ambitions to make accessible healthcare a pertinent issue on the minds of many.
According to the World Bank, an estimated 703 million people live in extreme poverty, lacking access to essential healthcare services. Lacarriere’s collaboration with investors on the job to procure top-quality medical supplies for these communities underscores her commitment to addressing healthcare inequalities.
“I look forward to working with investors to bring in top quality medical supplies and care to less economically developed nations, providing care for children and nursing mothers,” says Lacarriere.
Beyond her clinical duties, Jennifer Lacarriere hopes to leave a lasting legacy of generosity and kindness. Through initiatives such as advocating for equitable and affordable healthcare as well as her ambitions to provide free medical care for underprivileged children and adults, Lacarriere strives to create a better world for future generations.
