Japan-based marketing communications company Norwegian Seafood Council is pleased to announce the launch of their online game that aims to help people learn more about the different types of seafood from Norway, starting from mackerel to salmon. The game is called the Nordic Combined Seafood Cup. It’s a free online game and can be accessed on the Norwegian Seafood Council’s campaign site.
With myriad rivers, lakes, and fjords and simple access to some of the cleanest, most thriving oceans on the globe, Norway’s seafood is second to none. Crab, trout, salmon, and cod are just a few types of seafood seen in Norwegian waters, food markets, and restaurants, with a whole load of other delicious treats available along with some rather peculiar culinary experiences.
That is why the food company designed an online game that raises awareness of the country’s diverse seafood. The Nordic Combined Seafood Cup is a game anyone can play online on their computer, tablet, or smartphone devices.
The game features two games. The Norwegian Mackerel Ski Jumping is where a mackerel soars high in the skin to make the biggest jump. The rules of the game are simple. The player must tap the screen and answer four quiz questions to finish the cross-country ski game with the quickest time or the ski jumping game with the farthest jump. Meanwhile, the Norwegian Salmon Cross-Country Skiing game, where a player kicks and drifts through the white, snowy peaks of the country to cross to the finish line in a given time.
Nonetheless, the player’s knowledge of mackerel, salmon, and their origin story will be tested. Only the correct answers to the quiz can speed up better results.
The team from the Norwegian Seafood Council is extremely happy with the global launch of the newest game. Considering Norway is a country far from Japan. Although Japanese consumers have long cherished their mackerel and salmon, awareness of their country, seafood, and its origin story is still a real challenge.
In a recent survey, the company also found out that thirty-five percent of Japanese respondents link Norway with seafood and fifty percent with winter sports. That’s why the Norwegian Seafood Council decided to create a game that combines winter sports and seafood. The result is an educational and entertaining tool that engages and challenges both categories.
Nordic is a combined sports competition that originated in Norway where athletes compete in both ski jumping and cross-country. The demanding sports need a balance of efficiency, endurance, power, cold climate, and detailed technique—all of which are qualities that resemble Norwegian aquaculture and fisheries.
The country is also cold. That may make some challenges for humans, but the conditions are just right for mackerel, salmon, and other fishes.
Fortunate with the cold environment that nurtures the fish, culture, people, and science connected has made Norway one of the most sustainable and biggest seafood producers today.
