Born in the Gambia, Moddz moved to the UK at the age of 10. Like most people, he also took the conventional path to university and explored an interest in science. Moddz pursued a degree in biomedical science from Northumbria University and succeeded with honors!
Soon he understood that his passion and his degree were not in sync with each other. So, striving to generate income and find his calling, he started the side hustle of reselling trainers online. Little did he know this would ignite the passion for turning this side venture into a fully-fledged business.

After graduation, Moddz decided to take advantage of his creative ideas and kickstart his entrepreneurial venture by investing his student loan money into the business of buying and reselling trainers. Soon enough, his business grew, and he generated revenue of six figures. The small successes began to open new doors for him as he and his brand got featured on ‘BBC One’s Inside Out‘, aired a short film in early 2020, giving Moddz and his venture further recognition.
The next milestone achieved by Moddz was in the first half of 2021, where he received funding from the Pinnacle Group alongside two other individuals, and their collaboration created a multimillion-pound luxury goods marketplace called ‘Elusive.’
The brand predominantly sells limited edition trainers such as Jordans and Yeezys and luxury branded watches. It caters to both men and women and has created a niche in the reselling market due to its ability to acquire trainers from exclusive brands. As a result, elusive has a global purchasing clientele list who buy from the brand in bulk and resell it in their regional markets.
What started as a £3,000 student loan venture has now been scaled into a multimillion pound generating business in just four years.
