Spacely AI, a SaaS platform that optimizes design workflows for architects, interior designers, and real estate professionals, has clinched third place in the SketchUp Global Innovation Challenge. As the sole startup from Asia among the nine finalists showcased at Trimble’s Dimension 3D Basecamp at The Venetian Resort in Las Vegas, USA, Spacely AI captivated judges and attendees alike with its cutting-edge approach to enhancing efficiency and productivity in the design sector.
“We went into this challenge excited just to be part of it-winning was beyond our expectations,” said Paruey Anadirekkul, Founder and CEO of Spacely AI. “This recognition gave us valuable feedback and validation from the SketchUp community, reinforcing our vision to empower creatives to design spaces that improve lives.”
Rethinking Design Workflows
Despite the advancements in AI, designers often find themselves bogged down by repetitive and labor-intensive tasks. Activities such as creating floor plans from scratch, searching for the right 3D models, and meticulously placing each model take up valuable time—often just for a single design project. These laborious steps not only hinder productivity but also increase costs. However, Spacely AI’s recent demonstration highlighted how automating these fundamental processes can empower designers to shift their focus back to creativity and innovation.
Looking ahead, Spacely AI plans to launch a new automation feature by the end of Q2 2025, available on the SketchUp Extension Warehouse. This innovative tool will allow designers to generate multiple floor plan layouts, choose furnishings, and arrange 3D assets in just minutes. This streamlined approach enables designers to take on more projects, explore a wider range of ideas, and significantly reduce overhead costs. Additionally, Spacely AI’s roadmap includes exciting features like instant Bill of Materials generation and real-time collaboration, further enhancing the design experience.
“This past year, we’ve focused on using Generative AI to simplify rendering, helping designers save time, reduce costs, and present concepts faster,” added Paruey. “At the challenge, we demoed our automated floor plan creation system that uses AI and algorithms to instantly build 3D scenes. We believe this will bring an even greater impact to designers’ efficiency and productivity.”
