Tokyo-based studio complex Warehouse TERRADA is pleased to announce that they recently opened a bonded gallery located in Tennoz, Tokyo. The new gallery aims to showcase international art galleries and auctions throughout Japan.
In 2016, Warehouse TERRADA opened TERRADA ART COMPLEX I and TERRADA ART COMPLEX II in 2020 with the purpose of making Tennoz the leading center for arts and culture. These include different art galleries that involve the biggest gallery complex in the country. The facility also houses art studios for artists who need a place for creation.
Since art appreciation is practically a high-intensity sport, they have also included a chill, beautiful café overlooking a spacious garden connecting two facilities where everyone can relax over light refreshments and let the art sink into everyone’s core.
This 2022, the Bonded Gallery and its neighboring Bonded Lounge (a bonded warehouse) strive to support the presence of international art galleries and auction houses throughout Japan. The Tennoz area where Bonded Gallery is inspired features a broad spectrum of art-related facilities, from an art gallery complex to a collector’s museum of contemporary art and a dedicated warehouse for artworks.
Warehouse TERRADA also wishes to further the growth of Tennoz as a vibrant domestic and global art hub while contributing to the globalization of the Japanese art market.
Bonded Lounge will be a bonded warehouse that provides a dedicated space for exporting and importing artworks to and from Japan and offering a venue for acquiring and viewing artworks. With a total floor space of 84.2 square meters and a ceiling height of 3.5 meters, it’s appropriate for accommodating big sculptures and paintings. It is also available for both public and private viewings and acquisitions. It will be located in G Building, 2-6-10 Higashi-Shinagawa, Shinagawa-ku, in Tokyo.
One of the cool things about Bonded Lounge is that their bonded areas are situated in Tokyo’s Tennoz region—a hub of all art-related facilities with convenient transportation links from downtown Tokyo and Haneda Airport. That makes it easily accessible for numerous art collectors in Japan and from overseas.
According to a spokesperson from Warehouse TERRADA, “Our head office building provides a high level of security storage warehouse for all artworks and any valuable items, featuring adjustable humidity and temperature control. One can also transport their artworks from overseas, hot acquisition meetings in our bonded lounge, and store items in the storage warehouse after finishing the import processes.”
Their group company TERRADA ART ASSISTS Co., Ltd., also offers a comprehensive solution for artists and art collectors’ art-related needs. This includes transportation within Japan and overseas, insurance services, exhibits, and conservation.
Just recently, Bonded Gallery was utilized for an auction preview led by New Art Est-Quest Auctions Co., Ltd. There were a total of 154 lots exhibited, showcasing in-demand works from highly-sought domestic and international artists such as Tsuguharu Foujita, Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, Yusuke Hanai, KYNE, KAWS, Chiharu Shiota, Yoshimasa Tsuchiya, Maki Hosokawa, Aya Takano, Shinro Ohtake, Ayako Rokkaku, Yoshitomo Nara, Lee Ufan, and Yayoi Kusama, among other artists.
New Art Est-Ouest Auctions was established in 1984 and actively runs different auctions in Singapore, Hong Kong, and Tokyo.
