The Festival del Sole will take place at The Green Music Center at Sonoma State University in Northern California from August 1 to 4, 2024. The event will feature international stars and musicians, as well as wine and culinary events presented by Domus Artium Reserve. A Gala dinner and auction hosted by Buena Vista Winery and Jean Charles Boisset on Sunday, August 4th will benefit The Way of the Rain, a non-profit organization founded by Sibylle Szaggars Redford. The mission of the organization is to develop, produce, and perform educational and artistic performances to promote public awareness and support for the protection of the Earth. An enologist named Michel Rolland has crafted a Bordeaux wine especially for The Way of the Rain. Vinous, a renowned wine publication, has curated a series of lunches and tastings at top wineries, including Freeman Vineyard & Winery and Three Sticks Wines.
The festival will kick off on Thursday, August 1st with performances by international instrumentalists Olga Kern, Nina Kotova, and Viktoria Mullova, who will present a program of solo and chamber music. On August 2, solo violinist and violist, conductor and chamber musician Pinchas Zukerman will perform with cellist Amanda Forsyth and pianist Michael Brown. Acclaimed tenor Joseph Calleja will take the stage on Saturday, August 3. The festival will conclude on Sunday, August 4 with a screening of the film, The Way of the Rain: Hope for Earth-A Symphony for our Planet, which showcases Sibylle Szaggars Redford’s multidisciplinary staged music, art, and film performance. The film features a spoken word narration by Robert Redford and music composed by Tim Janis. Scheduled to attend the screening and the gala dinner are Founder, President and Artistic Director of The Way of the Rain Sibylle Szaggars Redford and Robert Redford.
