A black-owned woman-operated business in St. Albans, Queens, New York, was established with the lower income in mind. Barbara purposefully rented office space to serve the community and surrounding towns where a predominantly Black population resides. Opened in 2015 from her home, she developed an extensive clientele where a business space was necessary, plus she needed rye space. Medical spas are thought of as exclusive for the wealthy and celebrities, but now are trending and popular amongst all economic statuses. Being a registered nurse and an adult nurse practitioner for over 20 years, Barbara felt that her knowledge and experience surpassed simple patient care and wanted to own a business for a long time. She was employed full-time while managing her busy practice and was encouraged by her sisters to work and focus on her business. After years of deciding, she later did in 2019. Barbara obtained a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree in 2016 and is respectfully called Dr. B by her clients and social media followers. Barbara also mentor nurses on how to open their medical spa and intravenous infusion businesses.
As a serial entrepreneur, she started a skin line called Young and Aging Skin in 2017, by the suggestion of a client with uneven skin tone. To prevent the public from using skin bleaching creams, natural skincare products are formulated by manufacturers in the United States and have been a success. The skin line products are also sold on Walmart.com.
Skin Esteem medical spa by Barbara Beckford, Nurse Practitioner (Dr. B), offers services such as laser hair removal using the prestigious Candela laser, chemical peels for various skin conditions, hair loss treatment/skincare with platelet-rich plasma, teeth whitening, intravenous vitamins/minerals/amino acid infusions, medical weight loss, non-surgical body contouring, dermal fillers such as Radiesse and Juvederm, Xeomin for wrinkles, medical-grade thread lifting using the popular Les Encres threads, anti-aging treatment, and much more. Barbara is titled a Master Injector in thread lifting by the CEO of Les Encres threads because of her skills in improving body areas other than the face. Barbara’s goal is to provide the same medical spa services that other medical spas offer at a more affordable cost. The reason why she’s famous, very prominent on social media, and called upon by prospects in other towns, States, and countries for their beauty needs.
