As a child growing up, do you recall typically playing a leadership role? When did you learn you were a natural leader?
I guess I would consider myself a leader when I was younger. I was always the one to rally the troops to go on adventures and try new things. I really learned I was a leader when I was handed the role in my previous firm, to run the daily operations and manage the staff. I was promised to be the next President of the company, but I realized there was a glass ceiling. I said to myself, If I am going to run a company, manage the employees but not get the position that was promised, I will go do this myself.
How do you approach risk-taking in your business decisions, and what factors do you consider when weighing potential rewards against potential risks?
Due Diligence and then saying ‘yes’ and figuring out how.
What do you see as the long-term vision for your company, and how do you plan to achieve your goals?
The long-term vision for my company is to train my staff to be able to run my business without me having to be involved on a day-to-day basis. I will remain the Chairman of the Board and Majority Stockholder and be involved from a distance. My other company will be run by my business partner’s son who just received his master’s in accounting.
Behind every successful leader is an inspirational role model. Can you talk to us about who inspires you?
I have had several Mentors or Role Models in my life. It started with Lewis Laughlin, to Kevin Day, Esq., C.W. Allen, Zig Ziglar, Loral Langemeier, and the list goes on.
How have you balanced the demands of your business with other aspects of your life, such as family, friends, and hobbies?
When I first started out it was nothing but talking about my business, worrying about what needed to be done tomorrow, and what I did not do today. In fact, I even dreamed about working. It was draining me each day. I then realized that I needed the right team. By hiring the team I have now, it gives me the free time to spend with my family, friends and enjoy my hobbies without being chained to my business. I also do not do business on the weekends. This time is reserved for my family & my hobbies.
