Rome is not only the Colosseum, the Vatican and the Spanish Steps. Beyond the tourist routes, there are real gems where you can enjoy the atmosphere of the Eternal City without the crowds of travelers. In this article, you will learn about the most little-known corners of Rome that are worth visiting and capturing in photos.

Orange Garden

A small garden located on the Aventine Hill offers one of the most beautiful views of the city. Orange trees, silence and a romantic atmosphere make this place suitable for photo shoots and meditation. It is especially beautiful here at sunset, when the sun’s rays paint the domes of the churches in golden hues.

Basilica of San Clemente

From the outside, the temple may seem like an ordinary church, but once you go inside, a whole multi-level archaeological complex will open up before you. Under the basilica are the ruins of the ancient Temple of Mithras and buildings from the 1st century, where you can go down. This is one of the most mysterious places in the city, hiding more than 2,000 years of history.

Biblioteca Angelica

A public library founded by the Augustinian bishop Angelo Rocca in the 16th century. Here you can see thousands of old books, magnificent halls with wooden shelves and feel the spirit of real history. A great place for book lovers and quiet atmosphere.

Via Margutta

A charming street of artists, filled with galleries, cozy cafes and blooming balconies. This is one of the most romantic places in Rome, ideal for photo sessions in the style of the “old city”.

If you need an experienced photographer in Rome, contact photographer Mike Kire. His portfolio and contacts are available on the website.

Villa Torlonia

A luxurious villa with a park in the English style, which once served as the residence of Mussolini. Here you can enjoy the silence, strolling along the alleys, visit the Moorish Grotto and the unusual structure “Owl House” with stained glass windows in the Art Nouveau style. Also on the territory of the villa there are several pavilions, artificial grottoes, extensive gardens and museums where you can see original furniture and works of art.

Graffiti Quarter Ostiense

If you love street art, be sure to go to the Ostiense quarter. Here, the walls of houses are transformed into real canvases created by famous street art artists. This area is a kind of open-air museum, where modernity meets antiquity.

Coppedè Quarter

An unusual area of Rome, which seems like a movie set. Here you will find eclectic buildings with elements of Art Nouveau, Gothic and Baroque. The central square is decorated with the Fountain of the Frogs, and each house has a unique design. This is a great place for lovers of architecture and unusual photos.

Tiber Island

A tiny island on the Tiber River often goes unnoticed by tourists, but it is here that you can feel the special atmosphere of Rome. It is home to one of the oldest hospitals in the world and the beautiful Church of St. Bartholomew. On both sides of the island there are ancient antique bridges, which are pleasant to walk along at any time of the year.

Aqueduct Park

One of the most atmospheric places in Rome, where you can see ancient Roman water systems that are still impressive in their scale. It is located between the Appian Way and Tuscolana. There are no crowds of tourists here, but you can feel the spirit of the ancient city and take amazing photos against the backdrop of the ruins.

Acqua Paola Fountain

The majestic Acqua Paola Fountain is located on the Janiculum Hill and offers stunning views of the city. This is the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle and enjoy the beautiful views.
