Today, you don’t need to be in the same city, country, or even continent to create and record music. The unique Sweden-based music project “YouKnow Richard” has now released its first single.

What makes the project special is that there are no commercial requirements or preferences. The projects are not confined to a specific genre or style but are solely based on emotions and atmosphere.

– Everything we do should truly mean something personally. Whether it’s referenced in lyrics, music, graphics, or anything else, that’s not important. The depth should be there. My wife started crying when she heard “Walk with me.” She recognized our journey, explains the project’s only constant member, Richard Svensson from Malmö in southern Sweden.

Richard is most known as the drummer in the Swedish hard rock band Renegades. While Renegades takes breaks, he takes the opportunity to explore his own creativity with musicians from different parts of the world.

– Not many people only listen to one artist, one genre, or even one style of music. Most of us listen quite broadly across musical genres. That’s why this project is extremely satisfying because we make the music we want and feel for at the moment. It should be difficult to pigeonhole us into just one category, he says.

Music Collaboration Worldwide: 'YouKnow Richard' Releases Its First SingleThe song, “Walk With Me,” was originally written in the 90s. But it was reworked for the re-recording, especially the lyrics since the composer is no longer in adolescence.

– Since I myself don’t master much more than drums, I needed help. In these internet times, it’s quite easy and smooth to collaborate worldwide.

To complete the project, he hired external musicians as a guitarist, bassist, and vocalist. The lyrics of “Walk with me” explore themes of togetherness, determination, and affection in a world that can sometimes be overwhelming. Simply put, it’s a song about life and all its aspects.
