Yamaha Corporation recently announced that it finally released VOCALOID6, an inclusive solution for virtual vocal production. The release was made on October 13th, 2022. The new software is available for purchase (download only) from VOCALOID’s official shop at vocaloid.com. There will also be an upgraded version that will be available for users who may have acquired the VOCALOID3 or later.

VOCALOID6 utilizes VOCALOID: AI, an artificial intelligence-based technology that makes it possible to produce even more highly expressive and natural-sounding singing voices.

The user only needs to input the melody and the lyrics, and the technology flawlessly transforms the computer into an incredible vocalist. Using the new editing tools, you can freely manipulate vocal accents, rhythmic feel, vibrato, and much more.

Anyone can now improve their music production workflow with the new features available from VOCALOID6. The Doubling Function is essential for generating high-quality vocal tracks. With the new software, users can immediately create harmony parts.

There’s also the Vocal Changer, where anyone can import vocal data to replicate a singer’s singing style as-is, as a VOCALOID voicebank.

Ultimately, the Multilingual feature allows users to sing lyrics in a combination of Chinese, English, and Japanese with a single voice bank. That offers the user the freedom to write lyrics that surpass language barriers. The Chinese language is currently unavailable, but it will be supported soon.

The VOCALOID singing synthesizer will make it possible to easily create any type of singing voice a person can imagine. The songs made using the unique technology have sparked a new generation of music, boasting numerous fans and listeners globally.

On top of the VOCALOID6 voicebanks, the new software also includes Ken, Kaori, Chris, and Amy voicebanks from VOCALOID5. The technology also includes more than 100 style presets, which make it simple to adjust the way of singing and tone of the voice, from robot vocal styles to main to chorus vocals.

Eleven audio effects will also be included, which can be efficiently utilized for vocal production. Users can also make their vocals with just VOCALOID6. Even better, it has over 2,000 editable audio samples and vocal phrases, which are right for sketching out sonic ideas. Users only need to drag and drop to make their computer sing.

VOCALOID6 is the first new version of the VOCALOID software range released four years ago. It will feature the revolutionary VOCALOID: AI synthesis engine that leverages AI technology to create more natural, richly expressive singing voices.

Besides the new editing tools that let users adjust vibrato, dynamic, and other aspects of vocal expression, VOCALOID6 also involves new features that permit the user to immediately apply vocal layering effects, such as harmonies and doubles, for those even richer expressive possibilities.

Creators can now recreate their own singing or utilize a single voice bank to sing lyrics, which include a combination of English and Japanese, using native-like pronunciation. That will be achieved using the new AI-compatible voices that are only exclusive to VOCALOID6.

The groundbreaking software will help the creator get thrilled about production by freeing songwriting from the limits of language barriers and delivering new ways to make vocal parts.

What’s more, to cater to the production environment’s diversity used by creators these days, the technology will support version 2 of Audio Random Access (ARA). It has been added for better compatibility with other music production software.

It’s worth noting that VOCALOID6 also comes with Cubase AI music production software that makes it possible to start making music as soon as possible.

Further details about VOCALOID6’s specifications can be found at vocaloid.com/en/vocaloid6/specs.
